How do I Join IPSSA?
In order to become a local IPSSA Chapter member you must meet the following standards:
All IPSSA members are encouraged to maintain current business and professional licenses as per Florida Department of Business Professional Regulation.
No Chapter in your area? Please inquire about our Sunshine Virtual Chapter by contacting our Region Director or calling us at 941-915-2135. Virtual meetings with speakers and education opportunities are held via Zoom every fourth Tuesday of the month.
- Be self-employed or employed in the pool and spa service and repair business and derive more than 50% of your income from it.
- Attend as a prospective member three out of four meetings of the chapter you seek to join (the one in the closest proximity to your route). Click here to find the chapter nearest you.
- Agree to and participate in Tech-4-Tech route coverage pursuant to your chapter’s Standing Rules.
- Maintain liability insurance. IPSSA members may obtain group liability insurance through an IPSSA-affiliated company. Click here for more information on insurance.
- If not licensed, need to pass IPSSA’s Water Chemistry Certification Examination.
(A copy of your license will need to be provided) - Meet any additional requirements as may be required by IPSSA Inc. or your chapter.

How do I apply for membership?
Contact the chapter nearest your route for specific information on its requirements. This may include a written test or oral interview. Membership applications are only available through the chapter.

If you can help IPSSA Florida Region 11 in this process, contact our executive officers. In general, 10 members are needed to establish a new IPSSA Florida Region 11 chapter in the state.

Water Chemistry Exam
The IPSSA Water Chemistry Certification Exam is based on IPSSA’s Basic Training Manual-Part 1. To order a copy of this book call 888-360-9505 during regular business hours. Payment for telephone orders can be made by Visa or MasterCard.
The exam is offered online at no cost.

- When requesting a login ID and password, we will need your full name, company name, mailing address, telephone number, e-mail address, and the name of the chapter you wish to join (if known).
- You will receive your login ID and password no later than the next business day.
- The IPSSA Water Chemistry Certification Exam contains 50 questions.
- You may refer to your copy of the IPSSA Basic Training Manual-Part 1 when taking the exam, but you only have 60 minutes in which to complete it.
- During the 60 minutes you can go back and change answers. You will not be able to answer any questions after your 60 minutes expire.
- You must get 90% or more of the questions right in order to pass. After you have completed the exam online, you will be notified of the results immediately.
- There are a limited number of times you can take the exam with the same login ID and password.
